Project Overview

Solaris is a high-end mobile platform where digital art and NFTs meet luxury. It empowers creators to mint unique works and collectors to curate premium digital collections, all within a secure and elegant interface that blends art with technology.

Although Solaris did not proceed to a market launch, I took the initiative to develop high-fidelity prototypes that captured the app’s intended design and user experience.

Problem

The digital art and NFT marketplace is growing rapidly, but many platforms fail to offer a seamless, luxury experience tailored to high-end creators and collectors.

Users face challenges with security, user experience, and a lack of exclusivity, which diminishes the value and appeal of their digital assets.

Process

For this project, I worked closely with the CEO to figure out the various flows and end user states that we wanted to keep. We went through many iterations to try and understand what would be best suited for this kind of an application (as shown below)

Features

I worked on designing various features of the application, such as AR/VR integration, creating different user types, exploration of various NFT types and their integration into the platform.

Each user falls into two categories - Creators or Collectors.

Creators can make, buy and sell NFTs, with a slightly different user profile. Collectors have their own collections which can be followed by various users.

AR/VR Integration

AR/VR Integration

Some of the artists we were working with had art in AR/VR. So for these artworks to be experienced as intended, we planned to add the ability for the default iOS AR viewer, and a 360 photo/video for VR works.

A highlighted section was created to showcase the best collectors on the application. Clicking on the these cards would lead them to the collector's profiles.

Learnings and reflection

Although the application didn't make it to market, I'm grateful for the valuable lessons I learned. The experience of interviewing artists and understanding their unique needs was incredibly rewarding.

I also deepened my knowledge of digital art, NFT, and blockchain technologies, which has broadened my perspective as a designer. Through this project, I honed my Figma prototyping skills and developed a stronger understanding of user-centered design principles.
